Vinilourenço - Dona Graça Tinto Grande Reserva Vinhas Antigas
Douro DOC
Powerful, Rich, Alive
In the words of the winemaker this is “a wine to demonstrate the invaluable heritage of old vineyards of the Douro Superior.”. Made from the oldest vines in the Vinilourenço estate vineyards, this traditional blend of indigenous red grapes features Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tina Barroca, and Sousão. These high-altitude old vines produce grapes with incredible concentration and nuance which Jorge Lourenço seeks to let speak for themselves. To accomplish this, a minimalist approach is taken in the vinification of this wine, with pressing and fermentation taking place slowly in stainless steel tanks before the wine is lightly filtered and transferred to french oak barrels to age. Once completed the wine is allowed to stabilize and develop in the bottle for two years before being released, creating a wine that is a powerful statement of the intensely concentrated and rich potential of these ancient high-altitude vines.
